Arizona Continuing Education Requirements

CNAs are required to practice 8 hours every two years to renew their license/certificate. Continuing Education is not required to renew your license.

Arizona Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)

Arizona Registered Nurse (RN)

1. Practiced as a nurse for 960 hours or more in the past 5 years OR
2. Graduated from a nursing program and obtained a degree within past 5 years OR
3. Completed an Arizona Board-approved refresher course in the past 5 years OR
4. Obtained an advanced nursing degree in the past 5 years (i.e. LPN to RN, RN to BSN, masters, or doctorate).

Arizona Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)

CEs not required.

1. Practiced as a nurse for 960 hours or more in the past 5 years OR
2. Graduated from a nursing program and obtained a degree within past 5 years OR
3. Completed an Arizona Board approved refresher course in the past 5 years OR
4. Obtained an advanced nursing degree in the past 5 years (LPN to RN, RN to BSN, masters, or doctorate)

1. Hold an active Arizona RN OR current RN license within multistate privileges in another compact state
2. Practiced as an advanced practice registered nurse for 960 hours or more in the past 5 years
3. Hold active national certification (Your certification expires when your RN license expires)
4. APRNs who hold an active DEA license, MUST have completed a minimum of three hours of opioid-related continuing education.

Arizona Physical Therapist (PT)

Physical Therapists must complete 20 hours of continuing education during each 2 year compliance period

At least 10 contact hours must be from Category A, up to the entire 20 contact hour requirement. No more than 10 hours may be utilized from a combination of Category B and/or Category C activities.

Each 60 minutes of instruction equals 1 contact hour.

CEUFast provides Category A Activities.

Physical Therapy Assistants must complete 10 hours of continuing education during each 2 year compliance period

At least 6 contact hours must be from Category A, up to the entire 10 contact hour requirement. No more than 4 hours may be utilized from a combination of Category B and/or Category C activities.

Arizona Athletic Trainer (AT/AL)

Licensees may provide proof of continued BOC certification to meet the CEU requirements. BOC certification is required. Athletic Trainers are required to complete 50 CEUs within the 2-year reporting period.

Athletic Trainers must submit their current CPR and BOC Cards with the renewal application. All licensees shall complete a course approved by the Board on the athletic training statutes and this Chapter within one year of obtaining an original license or license renewal. This course need only be taken one time
